Nic and Morgan

Dear Friends,

The 425th Session of the Maryland General Assembly ended at midnight on Monday, April 7, 2008. During this 90 day session, I was honored to represent our community in the Maryland House of Delegates. I am ever-mindful that this seat belongs to the citizens of our district and I work diligently to ensure that your voice is heard.

Over 2300 bills were presented for debate, including the State’s budget. During this time, I worked to be a constructive voice for issues that have an everyday impact on people’s lives. My priorities were to continue addressing the rising cost of living in Maryland. Whether it is higher taxes, the cost of groceries, BGE, or gasoline we are all feeling the pinch. So I actively worked against countless attempts to raise taxes, increase energy bills, and many efforts to increase the size of State Government. Of particular note, I am very proud to have co-sponsored the Maryland Transparency Act of 2008. This bill requires that everything the State purchases must go online to be reviewed by taxpayers. You will soon be able to review each and every purchase made with taxpayer dollars. My hope is that greater scrutiny will create more accountability within government.

Over the next several months, I will be visiting with community groups, speaking to young people in classrooms about citizenship, and will be available to meet with you to discuss legislation, as well as any ideas or concerns that you want addressed. I wish you and your family a successful, healthy year, and hope to hear from you soon.

Please feel free to contact me by emailing or by calling 410-841-3421.

Sincerely,

Nic Kipke
